4 Skincare Ingredients in Vogue

FEATURED PRODUCT

Helming a small business with conscious values is like a dream come true and this month, Oilixia founder Alexandra was thrilled to reach another major milestone when the brand was featured in the March issue of British Vogue. To be included in this style bible has been one of Alex’s personal missions since she was a young girl and it is such a great achievement!

In celebration of this accolade, we wanted to talk a little about the skincare ingredients that are always in vogue and those that have stood the test of time.

Skincare research and development has taken huge strides in recent years and we’ve seen traditional ingredients being reimagined in the skincare realm. The potency of such ingredients seemingly knows no bounds and we’ve harnessed these benefits in our own product range.

1. CACAY OIL

Our Amazonian Cacay Facial Oil is predominantly made up of Cacay Oil, sourced from the Amazonian rainforests of Colombia. Cacay is revered by natural skincare mavens the world over as a miracle oil and renowned for its super-high concentration of vitamin A, ideal for nourishing skin down to the core.

It also contains a healthy dose of Vitamins E and F (linoleic acid), to encourage healthy skin regeneration, reduce pigmentation and smooth over wrinkles as well as protect against free radicals. Thanks to its high levels of vitamins and essential fatty acids, it only takes a little Cacay Oil to see and feel the benefits.

2. KAKADU PLUM EXTRACT

You may have already read the longer story of the humble Kakadu Plum. Now we’re giving you an abridged version to tell the tale of this miracle fruit. Born in the remote Australian outback, this super fruit has been used for centuries as a staple part of the bush tucker diet and an important ingredient in traditional medicine.

These days, the Kakadu Plum Extract is used in natural skincare thanks to its high antioxidant content and accolade as the world’s richest natural source of vitamin C. Its potency makes it kind to skin while its high levels of Phenolic Acid and Flavone Glycosides work together to encourage bright, healthy, hydrated skin and combat the signs of ageing.

3. ACAI OIL

South American tribesmen have harnessed the medicinal qualities of Acai Oil for hundreds of years but it was not until recently that its skincare benefits have been recognised. It’s packed full of antioxidants, essential fatty acids, vitamins, polyphenols and phytosterols. These all work together to promote skin repair, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and strengthen the skin’s elasticity.

Acai Oil also offers deep nourishment for skin and regulates moisture levels while encouraging a healthy glow. Our acai berries are sourced from palm trees in the Brazilian rainforest and we use the cold pressing technique to extract our oil from the seeds.

4. ARGAN OIL

The almighty Argan Oil reigns supreme in its native country of Morocco, where it has been used to treat joint pain and dry skin for many centuries. It is also revered for its culinary value – you can find the oil whipped up in couscous and comes as part of the local dish of amlou – a paste mixed with roasted almonds and honey to use as a dip.

Packed with antioxidants, essential fatty acids, vitamins and nutrients, it’s no wonder the use of argan oil in luxury beauty products has exploded in recent years. Otherwise known as liquid gold, it’s particularly prized for reducing the appearance of scars, stretch marks and pigmentation, as well as smoothing the skin for a more youthful appearance. The carotenoids, vitamin E and oleic acid boost the antioxidant work to protect skin against free radicals.
