Trying to reduce our environmental footprint can seem quite complicated at times, especially when it comes to recycling.
Almost all of our packaging can be recycled. The one exception is the dropper part of our Facial Oils, as there is currently no recyclable option for that piece of packaging.
To help make sense of the recycling conundrum, we’ve put together a guide that describes how to recycle each piece of our packaging to make it easier for us all to do our part for the environment!
Australian Kakadu Plum Gummy Facial Cleanser and Centella Asiatica Facial Mask 75ml
Material: Our NEW 75ml tubes are made out of aluminium. It is widely recyclable and can be recycled kerbside. Our 75ml tubes now come in an outer carton. The carton is made from 50% recycled material and is 100% recyclable.
How to recycle: Tube – Remove the cap. Squeeze out all excess product. Place both the aluminum tube and plastic cap in the appropriate recycling bin. Carton – Fold the outer carton flat and place it in paper recycling.
Australian Kakadu Plum Gummy Facial Cleanser 150ml
Material: Our new 150ml tube is made out of bio-plastic, which is derived from sugarcane instead of fossil fuels. Its production is carbon negative, meaning that it draws more carbon from the atmosphere during its production than it emits. The cap is currently made out of virgin plastic (we can’t get this component as bio-plastic yet). Both the tube and cap can be recycled. They have a plastic recycling code of 7, since it’s a combination of several materials – High Density Polyethylene (HDPE – code 2), Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE -code 4) and Polypropylene (PP – code 5). It can be recycled kerbside but each local council has different capabilities so it’s best to check with your local recycling department to make sure they can take it.
How to recycle: Cut the tube in half and rinse off any excess product. Remove the cap. Place both separately in the recycling bin.
Explorer Blend and Amazonian Cacay Facial Oils 30ml
Materials: Our Facial Oils are packaged in glass dropper bottles with a protective cardboard outer carton. The glass bottle can be widely recycled under recycling code – Glass (GL). The cardboard carton can be widely recycled under recycling code – Paper (PAP). Both can be recycled kerbside. The dropper pipette on our Facial Oil is a little more problematic. It can’t really be recycled at the moment due to it being a combination of materials (glass, rubber and plastic).
How to recycle: Carton – fold the outer carton flat and place it in the recycling bin. Glass dropper bottle – remove the cap with dropper. Take the glass bottle and rinse out any excess oil. Unfortunately the dropper pipette cannot be recycled.
Gift Sets
Materials: Our gift set boxes are made out of Forest Stewardship Council certified cardboard. It can be widely recycled under recycling code – Paper (PAP). The products inside the gift set come wrapped in tissue paper for added protection.
How to recycle: Flatten the box and place it the recycling bin. You will need to check whether your local council takes tissue paper to be recycled. If not, you can either reuse it wrapping paper or padding, compost it, or dispose with your normal trash and it will biodegrade.
Online Order Packaging
Materials: All of our online orders come packed in cardboard boxes with tissue paper used as protective padding.
How to recycle: Flatten the mailing box and place the box in the recycling bin. You will need to check whether your local council takes tissue paper to be recycled. If not, you can either reuse it wrapping paper or padding, compost it (just make sure it has nothing stuck to it) or dispose with your normal trash and it will biodegrade.
