Why retinol works wonders for your skin
Retinol in Cacay

Have you ever read the back of your cosmetics bottle and felt totally baffled? You are not alone! There are so many different skincare ingredients that it can feel a bit like a minefield when trying to choose the best products for you. So, to help decipher some of the latest beauty buzzwords, we’re taking a closer look at the ever popular skincare secret weapon: retinol.

More commonly known as vitamin A, retinol is the trusted best friend of the skincare elite and renowned for its anti-ageing properties.

When applied to the skin, retinol helps to stimulate healthy collagen and elastin production, which sets a cycle in motion to reduce the damage done by sun, pollution and free radicals. By helping to increase skin surface cell turnover, retinol has become a popular ingredient for treating deeper and more superficial skin conditions, including acne, eczema, scratches, light burns, rashes and scars.

It transforms the skin by smoothing away fine lines, dark spots and deeper wrinkles for a fresher, brighter and more youthful texture and tone. Retinol is particularly renowned for its positive impact on the skin’s surface, working to reduce large pores and refine an uneven tone and provide a boost in places where firmness has been lost.

Retinol is one of the few beauty ingredients has been proven to show vast visible improvements on the skin, which makes it a very exciting ingredient to use in your skincare regime. Retinol is generally compatible with most skin types and can be used either morning or night – however if it is used in the morning, be sure to always apply an SPF before venturing outdoors.

Although retinol can often be found in a synthetic form, Cacay oil, sourced from the Amazon Rainforest, is a rich natural source of retinol. It has three times as much retinol than its popular counterpart Rosehip oil. Designed to battle the signs of ageing and nourish skin in the most indulgent way, it’s no wonder that the celebrities are flocking to beauty products bathed in Cacay. It has even managed to shift the ever-present Argan oil from the top spot in the beauty stakes. Cacay contains 50 per cent more vitamin E than Argan oil, too, and twice the level of linoleic acid (also known as Omega-6, or vitamin F), so it is easy to see why Cacay has been dubbed the newest super skincare ingredient.

Cacay is the lead ingredient in our Amazonian Cacay Facial Oil, which also contains our other favourite South American super oils; Acai, Amazonian Lily Extract, Brazil nut oil and Buriti oil. The blend is designed to deliver a potent dose of antioxidants (vitamin A, C and E) to nourish and protect the skin, leaving you with a fresh-faced glow, worthy of Amazonian goddess status.
